Wanda M. Bernard, 88, of Lind Ave. Mattydale, died Saturday at Loretto Fahey. A native of Schenectady, Wanda resided in Mattydale for the past 80 years. She was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Gasiorowski) Przekwas and was a 1932 graduate of North Syracuse High School.
During WWII Wanda worked at Hancock Field, where she met her husband-to-be Winfrey Bernard. She later worked for several years at C.E. Chappell's department store in Northern Lights. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church and a member of the Mattydale Hinsdale Seniors Club.
Wanda was predeceased by her husband Winfrey in 1989; a son, Wayne on July 30, 2012; and a sister Thelma Sheils on May 31, 2012.
Surviving are her two children: William Bernard of North Syracuse and Wendy Bernard of Jamestown; a brother: George (Stella) Przekwas of North Syracuse; seven grandchildren: Benjamin, Brigitte, Brett, Alexander, Emily, Meagan, and Jacqueline; and four great grandchildren.
