Robert "Bob"  H. Fiel, 82, of Garden City Drive in Mattydale, died Sunday at home.  Bob was a graduate of North High and attended Syracuse University.  He resided in Mattydale for the past 50 years and was the son of the late Howard and Evelyn (Cooke) Fiel.

            Bob met his late wife, Miyoko, while stationed with the US Army in Japan during the Korean War.  They got married at the American Embassy in Kobe, Japan two years following the war.  Together they maintained a summer camp at Sunset Park on Cross Lake for many years and a winter residence in Winter Haven, Florida.  Bob retired in 1991 after 42 years as a draftsman for General Electric in Syracuse.  He was a member of the G.E. Retirees and was involved in the Japanese American Cultural Exchange Society.

            Bob was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Miyoko, in July.

He is survived by two sons: Steven (Betsy) Fiel of San Jose, CA and Jim (Rochelle) Fiel of Cicero;  and five grandchildren: Michele, Andrew, Emily, Dana, and Mathew. 

Contributions in Bob's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

            Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale.   Funeral Services will begin Friday, 11 am at the funeral home with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
